After years leading tech teams, I know one fundamental thing tat gave me space to grow in my career: accelerating delivery while increasing quality. At the beginning it wasn't even about the projects we would delivery, it was all about building a resilient system to deliver more and more often. Building confidence in our systems made it so when needed we knew we could execute extremely fast. That empowered my teams to ‘challenge with why’.
The most unexpected consequence of following this blue-print was having free time. That allowed our leaders to ask themselves why we were doing what we were doing. This shifted the relation if tech with the rest of the organization. Once you are not the bottleneck, your meaningful contributions sky rocket.

When you can focus on the business, you can really have that customer first mentality. At that point it should be clear for you what shouldn't be out there. Not for Quality Control reasons, but for business reasons.
